UX Case Study
User Onboarding for Kaymbu
The Problem
The current onboarding workflow did not allow users to onboard themselves. This created a barrier for users and extra overhead for the Kaymbu team.
The Goals
Streamline the onboarding process.
Update the current workflow to allow users to create and set up a new account by themselves.
Gather valuable data about the new user and their goals.
The Process
Research and Discovery
I worked with the Customer Success team as well as the CEO to define the problem. I then developed high-level persona categories and analyzed the competitors.
Design and Prototyping
During this stage, I created a site map to visualize the structure and hierarchy of the onboarding process.
Next, I created some user flows to diagram the steps a user takes to accomplish some specific goals and highlight decision points, actions, and potential outcomes.
Finally, based on the site map and user flows I created wireframes.
Iteration and Testing
Using the wireframes I created a clickable prototype which we then conducted some quick testing amongst the team members. Based on the results of this testing I made some iterations to my layouts before moving to final designs.
Final Designs and Development Handoff
Once the wireframes were finalized I moved into the visual design. I added fonts, colors, and fun illustrations to make the experience more enjoyable as well as create brand consistency.
Finally, the designs were loaded into Zeplin and handed off to development to be built.
